Mr. Marais graduated in South Africa and underwent all his specialist training in the UK. He completed his Registrarship and Senior Registrarship in Edinburgh, and whilst there, set up the Sleep Study Laboratory in 1993 in the ENT department. He also underwent two Subspecialty Fellowship training programs, in Texas USA and Toronto, Canada respectively.

Mr. Marais has published widely in all areas of ENT surgery, including snoring. He is has been involved in the investigation and management of snoring and related problems for 14 years.
