A Sleep Study is the cornerstone of diagnosis in a snoring clinic. When a patient presents with snoring, the doctor must decide whether they are a straight-forward snorer or whether they are blocking off their wind pipe and may have obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). Although the history and examination may be suggestive of OSA, it is usually necessary to carry out an overnight sleep study to confirm the diagnosis.

The sleep study is simple and painless to carry out. Snore-tech uses the Embletta system which is tried and tested. There is no need to come into a hospital overnight. You will be shown how to fit the equipment yourself or if you prefer it will be fitted for you. All you have to do is go home and have good nights sleep in the comfort of your own bed. The equipment does not usually impair the normal sleep pattern. The next day you should return the equipment to Snore-Tech for analysis. Depending on the result we will discuss the next step in alleviating your problem.

Important Practical Information:

• Please wear a T-shirt over which the equipment can be fitted. You may wear a shirt, jumper, jacket or coat over the equipment once fitted.
• Please remove nail polish – the oxygen and pulse monitor needs to read through the fingernail.
• You are fine to drive home, enjoy dinner and have as normal an evening as possible.
• In the morning, please remove the equipment carefully and return to Snore-Tech in the supplied box.
